Tried my first French Gamay tonight: a 2011 Chateau de la Chaise Beaujolais from Brouilly. Fabulously dry, nice and light but enough structure to have a hint of spice. The waitress at Kapnos in DC chose the perfect glass for me.

I snuck a few photos of @enfieldwineco with some of his delicious bottles during this week’s lovely wine dinner at @neutralgroundbarandkitchen with @cbcwine and @lizvanwazer from @williamscornerwine (@bymags, I missed you! 😢). Some delicious bottles to celebrate @jdabrowski5 at his annual swine and wine fête! 🐖 🍷 This only scratched the surface of the offerings, but posting the bottles that made me smile most! 🥂 Now that the results have been announced, I’m posting this week-old lategram. Had such a fun time judging the @marylandwine Governor’s Cup for the second year in a row! In just a single year, could taste marked improvement among many of the wines I tasted (we tasted blind so while I have an inkling of what some of my favorites were now that I’ve seen results, I can’t say for sure — but my favorite flights included sparkling rosés, syrahs and the ciders — note, the “red wine” in the first photo is actually a beautifully dry cider!). Excited to see how this industry continues to grow! 🥂 Slowly emerging from my post-surgery recovery bubble by popping open this laser-focused Albariño from @enfieldwineco. The Spanish grape has become a favorite over the last few summers (Virginia is making some delicious examples) so I couldn’t hold back and opened within 48 hours of its arrival! Glad I bought multiple bottles!! 🥂 Couldn’t have asked for a more fun-filled pre-holiday weekend with delicious bottles, wonderful friends and even a bit of theater. A belated photo dump from an early October sailing of the #celebritybeyond with @captainkatemccue to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. A much needed dose of sunshine and respite! Plus some fun sights along the way! 🦩 Not pictured: the Bonaire 🐊 that terrorized the beaches while we were there. A super quick trip to San Diego to celebrate my friend included just enough time to see the ocean and partake in some nostalgia. Remind me why I left this state 30 years ago? 🤦🏻‍♀️ As we move into May, an April photo dump was necessary to further document this milestone month filled with a beach escape, signs of spring (my favorite season), self-indulgences and celebrations! 🥂Grateful to the many friends from all parts of my life I was fortunate to be with during these happy days! 🥂 Forgive any duplication from last Sunday’s stories, but I couldn’t not document these special 🍷 bottles! Thank heaven you could still taste lots of beautiful fresh fruit in the 1974 Unico! The proof I needed that 50 doesn’t have to be over the hill! Phew! 😂🙃 Thank you to @doctornoah, @ratherbeina2, @90margaux, @jamiessocks, @gentlemenofthevine, @dc_burg and @jdabrowski5 for an incredibly special evening! 🥂#50andfabulous #winelife #winestagram #vintage1974
